Chidambara Natarajar Temple

Chidambaram Temple is one of the 5 holiest Shiva temples. The Chidambaram Natarajar Temple or the Thillai Natarajar temple represents akasha or aether amongst the five natural elements that the 5 Shiva temples represent.


Lord Shiva is present in 3 forms in this temple - As Lingam, in the dancing posture as Natarajar and in the invisible as the Chidambara Ragasiyam (Chidambara Secret).

The Poojas in the temple is performed by the Dheekshitars, who, according to legend have been brought from Mount Kailash.

The temple is located close to Pondichery and is about 4 hours driving distance from Chennai.

Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayagar Temple

One of the oldest and most popular Ganesha Temple in Tamilnadu is the Pillayarpatti Karpaga Vinayagar Temple. The temple is near Karaikudi on the Karaikudi Pudukottai Road.

The temple is a Shiva Temple with the Presiding deity being the Valampuri Vinayagar.

Vinayagar Chathurthi is the most popular festival of the temple. The temple is managed by the Nagarathar Trust and is a must visit place for both pilgrims and tourists.
